Gorillaz are back with a bang with their hotly anticipated new album Humanz. It’s safe to say that Damon Albarn is one of the most talented song crafters of the last 50 years, so I was even more excited to see Port-au-Prince via Montreal’s Kaytranda getting in on the action with this ethereal, darkly burnished, disco earworm. In the past Kaytranda’s produced artists as diverse as Dublin’s own Rejjie Snow to Alicia Keys.

The track is made by the soulful vocals of seasoned Chicago house Don, Peven Everett. Listening to Everett crooning is like slipping into a warm bath. Kaytranda strips back “Strobelite” into a slower, dubbier beast with less vocoders and sonic clutter than the original track.

I dare you not to bogey to this track when the lights are down and it’s pumping out from a quality sound system! The track is infectious and a textbook case for what a good remix should be.
